INFANT

Infants from 2 months to 17 months are the most precious at that age. Our infant care is located at Caelum Junior@Bendemeer. It takes pride in its cosy and warm environment. Our infant care provides a safe haven for your infants where their needs are well taken of. Our programme is specially designed to bring out your child’s curiosity with sensorial experiences, to ignite their senses by exploring with a variety of materials and in various activities. Children at this age are fascinated with the world and people around them and it is important that we respect them by being reciprocal and responsive, building a trusting relationship with them.

When they reach 18 months, we would like the infants to be confident and emotionally ready to begin their journey in childcare.

PLAYGROUP

Children aged 18 months to 2 years are categorised by renowned Swiss psychologist, Jean Piaget as being in the sensorimotor stage. Children at this age start developing early language development as well as some symbolic abilities. As such, our playgroup programme caters to the developmental needs of the children through storytelling as that helps them express themselves through words and/or gestures. They will also be exposed to basic mathematical concepts such as shapes, colours, and numbers.

At the end of playgroup, we hope to help children achieve the ability to attempt to feed themselves as well as to respond to their names in both English and Mandarin. This is a fun phase of the preschool years. Children would improve and grow exponentially with proper exposure to stimulants such as verbal interactions, a conducive learning environment, and educational manipulative.

NURSERY 1 (2-3 years old)

Ever heard of the phrase “Terrible Twos”? Don’t worry! It is not all that bad. Children at this age start to desire their own independence while still relying on adults. They are also able to understand what is being said more so than what they can express. These can cause emotions and behaviours that parents may find difficult to interpret.

CJ’s Nursery One programme helps to ease these difficulties through engagement with songs, rhymes, storytelling, and craft. Children will also get to experience hands-on, sensorial, and tactile activities in school. These activities and engagements allow children to play alongside their peers with minimum disagreement. They will also learn to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ with reminders from the educarers. We aim to help children achieve independence during shower, feeding, and toileting time with assistance from the educarers. Children grow and develop constantly during this phase and we strive to help them get ready for the next stage of their lives!

NURSERY 2 (3-4 years old)

Congratulations, you have survived the "terrible twos!" Hopefully, you have energy left to enjoy what lies ahead for you and your child. Your 3- to 4-year-old will continue to grow and develop in many ways during this year.

Our Nursery 2 programme helps growth and development through penmanship and writing, phonics, social skills such as table etiquette, as well as Chinese strokes better known as 笔画. As the foundation set of subskills were developed during the younger years, we now focus on encouraging children to read, write, and cooperate in school. We guide children to be able to write their own name in English by the end of Nursery 2, recognise phonetic sounds of the letters of the alphabet, rote count and have the ability to do 1-to-1 correspondence.

We also encourage children to express their needs using words, and play in a group with their peers cooperatively. This is a crucial year where children grasp a hold of basic concepts and skills that will help them in their language and mathematical development.

KINDERGARTEN 1 (4-5 years old)

Most children this age begin to develop greater independence, self-control, and creativity. They are content to play with their toys for longer periods of time, eager to try new things, and are better at expressing their emotions when they get frustrated.

Our Kindergarten 1 programme promotes growth and development through focusing on topics such as reading, writing, and self-expression. These are fundamental skills that we strive to assist your child to achieve in preparation for the primary school education. Children are introduced to writing short and simple sentences in both English and Mandarin. They will also be introduced to Spelling, 听写, simple addition and subtraction within 10, and simple grammar rules.

Through this combination of early academic experiences, exploration and self-expression, children will develop critical thinking skills and social maturity that are needed for life long success!

KINDERGARTEN 2 (5-6 years old)

Six year olds are at an amazing stage of development. They gain greater independence and are better able to express their emotions and feelings. They also enjoy playing with peers rather than playing alone, and start developing friendship and teamwork.

Our K2 programme focuses on skills that the children will bring with them throughout their learning years. Our belief is that exposure is the antidote to ignorance which often leads to misunderstanding and bias. Therefore, our Kindergarten 2 programme aims to develop confidence, critical thinking and encourage public sharing of opinions. Our graduating students will be able to read, write, add, subtract and multiply. They will also be able to read books, complete book reviews, and write sentences. Books are offered in the classroom at varying degrees to encourage independent reading.

We aim for our graduating students to develop and become well-rounded students with a good balance in the areas of academics, social competence and confidence!
